Nepal on Brink of Civil Unrest: The movement demanding monarchy in Nepal is getting stronger day by day. Organizations supporting monarchy have given a week's ultimatum to the government. They say that if no agreement is reached within a week, they will intensify the movement. The Joint People's Movement Committee has said that they will hold a rally near Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday.

The spokesperson of the organization, Nabaraj Subedi, said that they have given a week's time to all democratic parties and the government. He said that their movement is going on peacefully. However, if their demands are not met, then this movement will intensify and we will achieve our goal. He says that the government should implement the 1991 constitution and there should be a constitutional monarchy in the country in which multi-party system and parliamentary democracy have also been given place. He says that Nepal should be a Hindu nation.

Tensions Rise in Nepal

They demand from the government that necessary amendments should be made in the current constitution and old laws should be implemented. On Friday, the four-party alliance Socialist Reform is also going to protest in support of democracy. Communist Party of Nepal Maoist and CPN will also participate in it. They say that the people of Nepal have struggled for this democracy and it cannot be allowed to end.

Pro-Monarchists Issue Ultimatum

The government has said that 5 thousand soldiers will be deployed in view of the tension in the capital. Agencies have also expressed apprehension of violent clashes in Kathmandu. Supporters of former King Gyanendra Shah have announced to intensify the movement from April 11. At the same time, top leaders of Nepal say that now the return of monarchy in Nepal is impossible.

Nepal was a Hindu nation for 240 years

Nepal was a Hindu nation for 240 years and monarchy prevailed here. In 2001, King Birendra Vikram Shah was murdered along with his family. After this, his brother Gyanendra Shah became the king in 2002. The pro-China Communist Party abolished the monarchy in 2006 and Nepal was ruled by communists.
